About the challenge

The Bioinformatics Club (BINF) and Artifical Intelligence in Medical Systems Society (AIMSS) have come together to bring students an exciting biohackathon event taking place at University of Calgary. This two day event consists of students partaking in a challenge involving multiple tasks revolving around the theme of healthcare. Participants will learn and utilize their coding/bioinformatics skills to compete against eachother. It is a race against eachother to successfully complete the most amount of tasks over the course of the event and gain valuable skills through the experience. 

 

Additional Infomation

Participants will be split into different divisions depending on level of coding/bioinformatics skills and knowledge acquired. The Introductory Track will include workshops tailored specifically to provide the knowledge and tools needed to complete the hackathon successfully. Additional support, such as templates and resources, may also be provided to make tasks more manageable while maintaining fairness. The Introductory Track is only open to high school students, first-year undergraduate students, and second-year undergraduate students. The Competitive Track will involve developing a project to address the use of AI and data analysis in healthcare, medicine, and biology.
